Emily Bruno is a co-founder and Chief Administrative Officer at Denizens Brewing Company, which opened in 2014. Bruno oversees the strategy, finances, and operations of Denizens and their two taprooms in Silver Spring and Riverdale Park, Maryland (MD).

This interview has been edited lightly.

Would you tell us a little bit about Denizens?

Denizens is a production brewery with full-service kitchens and bars in Silver Spring and Riverdale, MD. Our pup-friendly Silver Spring beer garden was one of the first in the D.C. area and seats over 200. Our beer lineup offers something for everyone, from traditional lagers like our Hike the Alps series to hazy India Pale Ales like Animal to barrel-aged, mixed fermentation beers like Backyard Boogie, and everything in between.

We truly believe there is a beer style for every person and every palate, and everyone has a seat at our table. We love beer and love sharing it with our guests in the taprooms and customers around the DMV!

What made you want to create a brewery?

In 2013, when we founded Denizens there were some production breweries in the area, but not any local breweries where you could drink on-site directly where the beer was made with a community of beer lovers. This was…
