A New Market Launches in Takoma

Something fresh and interesting has recently hit Takoma. The Market at The Bank debuted on November 26. It’s a weekly series that runs through December 18. To learn more about it, I got in touch with Jesse Kirsch, one of the market’s key players and a Managing Partner of the Takoma Collective.

Kirsch is an award-winning graphic designer, art director, and owner of No Plan, a boutique letterpress and design studio proudly based in Takoma Park, MD. A graduate of the School of Visual Arts in New York City, he’s been working professionally in design and the arts for over 20 years.

He enjoys finding new methods of using geometry, color, and typography, often in a way that explores everyday subjects from a different perspective.

This interview has been edited.

What does everybody need to know about the Takoma Collective?

We are a group of six local makers, creatives, entrepreneurs, friends, and neighbors within Takoma Park. We all got together about a year ago after the Pajamarama Holiday Market to try and figure out a way to collaborate, promote and sell our work, and create community experiences that help raise up the local maker/small business community.
