For my latest author interview, I turned to Ewa Mazierska. She’s a historian of film and popular music, and an author of over fifty short stories, published in literary magazines.

This interview has been edited lightly.

Love Cycles” was released last year. Would you tell me a little bit about it?

It is a product of five to seven years of work, often drawing on stories, which were told to me by friends and on occasions, by strangers. Some of the stories were published in literary magazines. I wanted to have them in one book as I realized that there is a consistency there. They follow the same topic; they deal with the same questions.

I approached Terror House, as this publisher published some of my short stories and I have read and enjoyed several books they published before.

How long did it take to write? Do you have a writing routine?

I try to write every day, but I don’t give myself very ambitious targets. It is only 300 words per day. Usually I work on several projects at the same time, some fictional, some academic. This means that if I’m stuck with one project, I’m not completely frustrated, as I can move to another one.

Why write about love and relationships?
